GLASSWARE
Glassware is made from porous material that is heated until it becomes a
homogeneous liquid that, when cooled, is generally considered to be non-porous
and nonabsorbent of food placed upon it. Glassware, in good condition, has
no cracks or crevices to trap food or dirt that a through cleaning would
not remove.
ARC INTERNATIONAL PRODUCTS
Arc International produces glassware products in a number of brands. All
are solid glass. Some may have plastic lids and some may have decoration
applied either by printing (such as decorated drinking glasses) or by
printing and re-glazing (such as decorated plates). All Arc products on
our Web site should identify the brand (listed below) and intended use.
Luminarc glass, Crystal d'Arques crystal, J. G. Durand Crystal brands
make up the majority of drinking, dinnerware and serving pieces that are
not to be used for cooking.
Arcoroc and Arcopal brands are tempered glass that has been heat-treated
to resist thermal shock and accidental damage from rough handling. This
glassware is listed as microwave safe and dishwasher safe by the manufacturer.
It is available in drinking, dinnerware and serving pieces that can be
used for microwave cooking BUT NOT in an oven or direct heat on a cook top.
Arcuisine brand is tempered glass that has been heat-treated to resist
thermal shock and accidental damage from rough handling AND designed for
use in the oven. This glassware is listed as oven, microwave and dishwasher
safe by the manufacturer. It is available in kitchen utensils, cooking,
and serving pieces.
POTS AND PANS
Metal pots and pans vary in construction and therefore each brand and piece
should be considered separately. We are considering non-Teflon pans and
your suggestions would be appreciated.
LOOK COOKWARE PRODUCTS
Look products are of hot forged aluminum with Teflon coating. The handles
are of 500 degree Fahrenheit Bakelite attached with a sturdy screw for
removal for replacement or cleaning. The lids are tempered glass with
a non-removable stainless steel rim and a removable 500 degree Fahrenheit
Bakelite handle attached with a sturdy screw for replacement or cleaning.
